Rode my bike around the old strip the other day and was shocked by the trashiness of the area and disrepair of most of the buildings. An absolute eyesore The university should make a push to buy up these properties to turn it into a commercial district that would be attractive to students.

Many fond memories of the pub back in the day. It was quite the friday or Saturday night fishing hole if you know what I mean

I've tried on more than one occasion to interest others in forming a group to buy up some of that property and bring back some buzz. Problem is, the property that is for sale is insanely high. The amount of demo and rehab would be incredibly laborious and expensive.
Would be nice though..

The strip was always an eyesore during the day time but mysteriously improved in the dark (or maybe it was after a few adult beverages ) I agree a cleanup of that area would be nice. IMO, the eventual enforcement of the 21 drinking age law led to the strips demise. It wasn’t until sometime around 2008-2010 or so until it was actually enforced

Tuesday nights at Poets was my fishin hole back then. We were talking about that the other day. Poets was not their when I was at USL but when it arrived it was certainly hopping on Tuesday nights.

At least when I was in college, it was a cool place for a couple of years when the keg was going through a down turn. It think it turned into a softball player type of place some time after Not that there's anything wrong with that . Just glad it was after my time The stuff that would happen at Shanahans after midnights on Wednesdays would had to be seen to be believed. They shut the doors at midnight for a reason. Those who came up in the camera phone / social media age wouldn't understand. Waaayy more stuff was allowed to happen before those times 😂😂
