Especially at night caps. Those goth chics were off the "hook". They shut the doors at midnight for a reason. Those who came up in the camera phone / social media age wouldn't understand. Waaayy more stuff was allowed to happen before those times ππ I think history might prove that the invention of cell phones and social media may be the worst things ever invented! LOL!!!

I was part of a rock band in the 80's. We played Shanahans on occasion, The Keg on many Wed nights. Played for Mardi Gras on an outside platform once also. Lot's of fun back then.

Especially at night caps. Those goth chics were off the "hook". Night caps has gone through a lot of different scenes through the years. At least when I was in college, it was a cool place for a couple of years when the keg was going through a down turn. It think it turned into a softball player type of place some time after Not that there's anything wrong with that . Just glad it was after my time The stuff that would happen at Shanahans after midnights on Wednesdays would had to be seen to be believed. They shut the doors at midnight for a reason. Those who came up in the camera phone / social media age wouldn't understand. Waaayy more stuff was allowed to happen before those times ππ Those were the days !!!!!

The best thing that could happen in the McKinley street area is a bulldozer. It is really an eyesore and nothing there serves any purpose.

A pedestrian/bike only district on the edge of campus would be fantastic. Coffee shop, sports bar, BBQ, ethnic restaurants, tech stores, clothing. The University could build commercial/residential buildings and make a killing while also revitalizing that area around Jefferson

Iβm not sure there is an opportunity to make a killing on anything in LAFAYETTE in the relative near future other than Covid testing or Masks.

Entire strip of stores, with a coffee shop and maybe anchored by Zeus? Is that not happening now?

I saw what happened in the mid to late 80βs and fear that will be back shortly. The oil field is hurting and Covid is destroying everything else around except for Covid related services and products.

In the past few weeks I drove by Schlumberger in Youngsville, Halliburton and Baker on 90. All three had company vehicles sitting in the lot with the logos all removed, ready for disposal. FSBOs popping up on FB and such. I'm afraid you are correct Vic, has that 80's feel in the air. Covid is just the topping on the rotten cake.

I feel the future of on campus instruction is limited at best. I was thinking the other day that they just spent all this money building on campus housing and it may not be used to it's fullest extent any time soon, if at all. Lots of uncertainty out there. Owners of off campus apartments, retail space and hotels are not sleeping easy these days. Their bankers aren't sleeping easy either . This COVD business has been / is/ and will continue to be a seminal event. The Chinese really screwed us over and they didn't have to fire a shot. Just a tiny little bug.

I wasnβt around lafayette in the early 80βs (I was born elsewhere in early 80βs) but a lot of people involved with the oil field industry keep saying this. From my experience, the offshore oil field industry never recovered from the 2014-2015 downturn although things somewhat stabilized. I sincerely hope this latest is not a repeat of the mid 80βs. The root issue is not covid related but the China bs is just compounding it
