I put together a list on RP a few years ago with all of our favorite places to wake up and go for breakfast or brunch. I tried to find it but wasn't successful. Let's debate that one again.
What's your favorite breakfast or brunch spot in town? Also, critique the 'popular' favorites that are overrated.
I'll start it...
Underrated: Acadiana Superette Old fashioned, good ole breakfast. Cheap, quick and delicious.
Overrated: Dwyer's Cafe Atmosphere is always good, but food quality is low grade, prices are stupid for what you get, and they don't know what LOADED HASHBROWNS means..
Properly Rated: Rusted Rooster (Also happens to be my favorite) Best biscuits, best chicken and incredibly filling. Prices are reasonable and atmosphere is perfect for the spot.

I'm partial to T-Coons out of habit, but agreed on Rusted Rooster. I've been wanting to try Hideaway on Lee's brunch, looks great (their burgers are legit).

We were there for Rob's election party but didn't eat. Has anyone tried Scratch? It's right around the corner from Hideaway..

Sorry, but I'm going to flip it but nothing personal. Underrard: Bon Temps Grill Quality menu with daily specials, reasonably priced for business luncheons Properly Rated: Dwyer's Quality food and quality portions for the price. Feeding North Lafayette for years and good people. Overrated: Rusted Rooster Greasy food in a hole in the wall location. Runner UP: Pete's A Cajun's fans legacy, greasy food and average service.

But this explains your opinion of Dwyer's, I've eaten breakfast there once in my life. So I guess I would agree with your opinion in that case. Lunch, is another discussion.

Man, last two times I've been to French Press...service has been horrendous, and I'd like to think I'm a pretty easy-going guy. Not worth the wait and quality of service anymore for me.
Also, haven't been to SCRATCH either, but that's on my list. I'm a breakfast taco/burrito sucker. Jak's Donuts has a pretty serviceable breakfast burrito in a pinch.

French Press has delicious breakfast. It's just not somewhere that we frequent. And I wouldn't put it in my top 3. Maybe top 5.

And it's usually over packed. And it's not cheap. Don't get me wrong, the food is very good. It's just not the vibe I want on a hungover Sunday morning. It's more of a place to take your parents or celebrate something.

I would like to throw Hub City Diner into the mix. Nothing fancy,, just good, basic breakfast options reasonably priced and served by a friendly staff.

Underrated: Acadiana Superette Old fashioned, good ole breakfast. Cheap, quick and delicious. I keep telling myself for over a year now that when back in town I need to go try out Robert's place. Then every time for some reason I never make it there. Dude is as genuine of a good guy as you'll ever meet. He's always been that way. The Autin family in general good people.

Haven't tried the brunch/breakfast, but when talking overrated Lafayette restaurants in general, that one is high on my list.
