I know some folks are for and some are against year round travel ball. Just curious of you guys pro's and con's of travel ball. It has been a few years since men and Angeleast coached together in travel ball.

Good stuff and good times, but yeah it takes a big time commitment. Glad to just kind of be a fan now even though I do a little private work with a few kids in the area.

Def not in favor of year round travel ball of any sport.
99% of those kids won’t receive a scholarship, much less sniff MLB field (of any level). I’d rather them play multiple sports with their friends, make lifelong memories rather than grinding through a sport that most likely has no future.
But to answer the question:
Pro’s: Increased competition and chance to get the best out of the kids
Cons: Money, missing out on other sports, too much pressure on kids

If any one cares to know the opinion of a former multi-sport star, who now coaches our football players, send Coach Tim Leger a friend request on Facebook and keep an eye out for posts! Haha

Haha Supposedly we have some elite level athletes on this board from the early 80's. Would love to see what they think about this. Especially in this day and age.

I’ve never been heavily involved in travel ball. As someone like yourself that coached, curious to know what you take away as the positives that could overlook negatives?

It preps you for high school. The competition level is higher. You get a lot of reps. You will get better around better kids. Bonds made with teammates. You get to travel places. I got out of coaching and travel ball because it is now so watered down. Example a kids parent don't like where there playing. There parent will now start there own team and that kid is now batting 3rd and playing shortstop. It seems like now days everyone is on a travel team. I have see plenty of travel teams these days that couldn't beat most of the rec teams that I coached back in the good old abbeville days, before travel ball was even though of. Abbeville baseball was feared by almost everyone.
