If a player isn’t getting playing time then they’re not developing their skills. Take a kid, only practice fundamentals, then throw them into a game situation and they will be lost. There’s many things you can try to teach in practice but it will only click mentally when it happens to the kid in a game situation. Coach was wrong on this one. Don’t blame youth travel ball players having fun being kids on the fact that the players he recruited to play for the Cajuns couldn’t handle pressure years later. One thing that I like about Coach Chris program is chasing rings is the last thing on there mind. They do a good job of blending and developing kids while also trying to win. I have some limited experience with travel hockey and basketball. Some positive, mostly negative. Seems like Coach Chris is becoming more rare these days. Kudos to him for doing it right.

What is your negatives? No doubt Coach Chris is someone that I would want my kid playing for. Most of you guys don't know who Coach Chris is but he teaches these kids way more than sports and never trys to bring attention to himself. I have seen his great work first hand and he is a blessing to the youth and community that he is involved with.

What is your negatives? The basketball experience seemed more of a way for the adults involved to get free travel and gear. Some seemed to think the team was there to support their coaching dreams rather than supporting/coaching/teaching the kids. Actual coaching was negligible. Hockey was 98% positive and I recognize that the 2% negative was my personal feelings about some people involved. For both, the level of competition was great and the kids really grew as young men.

At a young age reps is what really set kids about.
