This sounds like a personal vendetta between the person that began the petition and the ABNB property owner. As reported, there are no rules currently prohibiting such properties, or the regulation of these types of properties. To me, as a rental property owner I find them no different. In fact I have rented such properties in Hot Springs Ark, Nashville and several other cities to visit with family or vacation instead of a stay at hotels. This summer I'm traveling out of state for a wedding and we are renting a property in a very nice area at a cost of $600 per night. I hope this is resolved and this woman can continue leasing her property as long as there are no problems for the neighbors of her property.

Where is Poinsette Street? I've tried to put it in Google Maps and nothing comes up for Lafayette.
Very curious to know the neighborhood this "controversial" AirBnB is located. I have to say, by and large, the type of people I ASSUME who would rent out an AirBnB in Lafayette don't strike me as the type who would cause a disruption to local residents. Lafayette ain't exactly a Spring Break party destination.

Got ya.
That's right off Souvenir Gate. Are there not houses being rented out to college students in that neighborhood, despite it being "single family residential"? If so, I don't see how an AirBnB would really be any different. Again, that type of business isn't going to attract a disruptive clientele to its place in Lafayette.

Oh I think you are spot on that this particular situation is a personal issue but this is and has been a national issue. Some people do not want the house next door to be a rotating 1 or 2 night or weekly revolving door of different people. I use them too but I am not sure how I would feel if this was across the street.

I know people that still live and own in the Saint Streets area. The ones I know are less than thrilled with rentals of any type, and seized the opportunity.
